How to Find Matapouri Bay

Matapouri is located on the Tutukaka Coast, on the East Coast of New Zealand, about 25 miinutes drive from the city of Whangarei. The Tutukaka Coast is well sign-posted from State Highway 1 in Whangarei. From Auckland drive North 2.5 hours to reach the Tutukaka Coast. From the Bay of Islands you can turn off State Highway 1 at Hikurangi to approach Matapouri via Sandy Bay, or continue until the first traffic lights in Whangarei to arrive via Ngunguru and Tutukaka. Driving time from the Bay of Islands is just over 1 hour.

With a stunning beach and estuary, a walkway to adjacent Whale Bay and the Mermaid Pools, a dairy, playground and tennis courts - not to mention close proximity to Tutukaka's cafes, cruises and diving trips to the Poor Knights Islands you can't go wrong when you stay in a Holiday House at Matapouri Bay.
