Across the road is a public wharf and an all-tide concrete boat launching ramp where you can launch your own boat or book a chartered trip with one of the local fishermen. You are always guaranteed a 'catch'. This cottage has a lovely warm and sunny lounge, perfect for relaxing after a long summer’s day, and has a BBQ on the deck. It has a king size bed, and another room with 2 full sized single beds, plus a fold away bed can be added if required. It is perfectly located for every need. 2 minute’s walk over the road is the Houhora Game Fishing Club. The club has a restaurant & bar, offering some delightful food on the menu - including seafood! Across the road from the club is a play park perfect for a picnic overlooking the harbour while the children play. Take a stroll a little further north, with footpath all the way, you will find the 4 Square store, Pukenui Pacific Cafe, Takeaway/Restaurant & Bar, a local arts & craft store, and the Wholesalers. Opposite the store is the Pukenui Wharf, where there is another boat ramp. There are plenty of places where you can get bait, hooks etc, and ice, for keeping fish fresh. A little south of the cottage is the Houhora Service Station and another Restaurant, Bar and Takeaway called the Mount Camel Roadhouse. This place really is the fishing family's dream come true, or a great place for the guys to get together for some game fishing stories!! Fish can also be arranged to be smoked locally. Not far away are the beautiful remote beaches of the far north such as Henderson Bay, Rarawa Beach, Great Exhibition Bay, 90 mile beach, Parengarenga Harbour, Spirits Bay, and Tapotupotu not to mention the famous Cape Reinga. There are plenty of activities to do and see here in the Far North. Conservation Dept walkways, Horse trekking, diving, specialised tours of the Ahipara Gum Fields, 4 wheel drive the Ninety Mile beach, Cape Reinga and more..
